DLR Group has announced the appointment of Gerard Gulpeo as Principal and Healthcare Leader. Based out of the firm’s Los Angeles office, Gulpeo brings nearly 25 years of experience in the healthcare design industry and as Healthcare Leader, he will direct the firm’s healthcare initiatives throughout California.
Committed to fostering collaboration and innovation within his team, mentoring staff, and developing new client relationships, Gulpeo’s extensive experience in healthcare design has equipped him with a wealth of technical expertise and a deep understanding of client needs. His integrated approach tailors each project to the unique requirements of healthcare providers, enhancing patient care and operational efficiency.
“Gulpeo’s healthcare design industry experience combined with his holistic approach will undoubtedly enhance our firm’s healthcare initiatives throughout California. His leadership and acumen will drive our healthcare practice forward, creating a lasting impact on the communities we serve,” DLR Group Principal and Global Healthcare Leader, Mark Tiscornia, AIA, ACHA. “We look forward to the measurable outcomes Gulpeo will achieve through his design strategies.”
Starting as a draftsman and working his way up to his current role. Gulpeo’s career centers on healthcare design. He attributes his success to the mentorship he received in the early part of his career and uses the same approach as he develops upcoming design professionals.
Looking toward the future, Gulpeo sees low reimbursement rates as a key factor in how healthcare systems will adapt. He anticipates facilities will use AI to drive operational efficiency while healthcare professionals refocus on their mission to bring the human side of care.
