Whether you’re organizing a craft evening for the girls, have a school art assignment to complete, or have leftover tissue paper from Christmas, there are many uses for this versatile craft material. From simple projects, including homemade cards, to intricate designs, comprising 3D flowers, there is something to suit all. In addition to being a fun pastime, creativity allows us to view and solve problems more openly and with innovation.

Looking for creative uses for tissue paper? We’ve created this handy guide to inspire you. Read on to learn more.

1. Tissue Paper Tie Dye

Spectra tissue paper can be used to create a tie-dye effect on various items of clothing. These include both natural and synthetic fabrics. Whether you opt for pastel hues or bold colors using bright red tissue paper to fashion a new garment, you can be as subtle or dramatic as you desire. For best results, pick a plain item of clothing, such as a white T-shirt or cream silk dress.

2. A Floral Affair

Tissue paper flowers, although easy to make, look extremely impressive. Planning a baby shower, bridal party, or birthday event? Tissue paper flowers add color and style to your decor. Alternatively, create a bouquet of blooms out of crepe paper. This creative gift will last a lot longer than real flowers. Because it was homemade, it will likely be more sentimental, too. In addition to flowers, you can also use tissue paper to craft oversized pom poms in rainbow hues.

To complete this craft, you’ll need to begin by stacking several layers of tissue paper on top of each other, folding sections measuring one inch until the entire length of the paper has been folded together.

The next step involves using a stapler to secure the center. Once secure, take a pair of scissors and use them to shape both ends of the tissue paper. Finally, begin separating each layer by fanning out the fold, then fluffing and shaping the flower into your chosen style,

3. Tissue Paper Bracelets and Headbands

Do you have a festival or prom on the horizon? A bracelet or headband made out of tissue paper is a great idea! To create this masterpiece, you’ll need pipe cleaner, wooden beads, and tissue paper in your favorite hues. Following the above step, create blooms in different sizes, attaching each to the pipe cleaner or a plain headband. Ideally, choose colors that complement each other and your outfit.

4. Heart Luminary Jar

A great project to embark on if you wish to create a heart-inspired gift for a loved one. To make it, you’ll need to acquire an old jar. Once washed and dry, set it aside. Take your sheets of tissue paper and cut out several small heart shapes.

The next step requires you to combine PVA glue with water to create a fine consistency. With a white sheet of tissue paper, cut enough to cover your jar. Using the glue, adhere the white tissue paper to the glass, creating a blank canvas for your hearts. These can be glued as and where you please on top of the white tissue paper. You can even overlap them. For extra embellishment, sprinkle glitter onto your finished design before the glue dries.

Take a set of battery-powered fairy lights and place them in the jar. Voila, you have a cutesy homemade lamp.

5. Geometric Tissue Paper Frame

All required to make this is a handful of tissue paper sheets in hues of your choice and a blank frame. First, cut your tissue paper into triangle shapes. Then, using a mixture of PVA and water, stick them onto your frame in a collage-like effect. This is a great way to transform an inexpensive, minimalistic frame into a stylish work of art.

The Bottom Line

When considering creative uses for tissue paper, the possibilities are endless. This versatile craft material is a handy art supply to have in your craft tool kit. From homemade confetti to fancy stained glass designs for jars and candleholders, there is a project suited to all levels. The best part? Art therapy can help you to express yourself more freely. The result is that your mental health and interpersonal relationships improve.

Provided you have a few additional craft supplies, you can get as creative as you wish. The above tips are guaranteed to inspire you, many of which you can add your creative flare to.

The bottom line? Tissue paper can be embraced by all ages to create various unique designs. It can be purchased from arts and crafts stores or online and is readily available in recycled form. So what are you waiting for? Start crafting today!
