With the discovery of cork stoppers in a newly acquired warehouse in 1868, the Wicander family embarked on what was to become a family legacy in the cork industry.
This journey would span two continents and continues on today through their great great grandchild, Ann Wicander. Although today WE Cork products are made available by distributors in every region of the United States, the company is based in historic Exeter, NH.
For more than one hundred years one thing has stayed the same at WE Cork, we have a passion for cork. It is the splendor, beauty, resilience, and ability to regenerate that makes cork so remarkable. These attributes have inspired five generations to truly believe that the use of cork in our products is not just good business sense but a way of life. I often jokingly say that cork must run in our veins, a common bond that we all share, uniquely lasting. Perhaps this is the secret behind what has made our passion, our family, and our business so strong for such a very long time.
It is cork’s extraordinary ability to continuously regenerate itself that has allowed our work to be earth friendly, a notion that forms the foundation of our business. This is something we are very proud of, especially in today’s industrialized marketplace.
With each year that passes I find myself so pleased that the vision of my family four generations ago is still prevalent and resonating in all that we do here at WE Cork.
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to our family, the WE Cork family and invite you to join in our vision.
