| Winter Construction has topped out the new SpringHill Suites hotel at The Wharf in Orange Beach, Alabama. The five-story building will include 132 guest suites, meeting space, and restaurant space. Winter will also build an exterior amenity area with a swimming pool. Rule Joy Trammel + Rubio served as lead designer for the hotel and the amenity area. Topping out is a construction milestone that is observed when the last beam is placed on a building. Winter’s Director of Hospitality, Ken Smith, said, “We’re proud and excited to achieve the topping out milestone as we move toward completing this beautiful hotel.” The Wharf is an entertainment, retail, and marina complex adjacent to the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway in Orange Beach, near the Florida-Alabama border. Orange Beach is growing in popularity as a vacation destination. It ranked near the top of a 2015 travelers’ choice online list of “destinations on the rise.” “The SpringHill Suites is a great addition to The Wharf in continuing to provide our visitors with the best amenities,” said Chase Rainey, project manager with The Wharf. “We’ve enjoyed working with Winter Construction to reach this milestone and look forward to celebrating the finished product.” SpringHill Suites is in the Marriott family of hotels. Winter Construction has built and renovated other Marriott-brand hotels across the Southeast. Winter is currently building the new AC Hotel by Marriott at Phipps Plaza in Atlanta, Georgia. |
