New businesses are finally coming to fill long-vacant sites on the west side of Alhambra. The southwest corner of Commonwealth Avenue and Date Avenue had for years sat empty, but three restaurants are setting up shop in a new shopping center — McDonald’s and Panera Bread recently opened, and Ono Hawaiian BBQ is expected to move in soon.
