We usually spend countless hours on our kitchen, living area, and bedroom interior to get it just right. Unfortunately, our bathrooms remain neglected despite the amount of time we spend in there.

An average person spends over 180 hours in the bathroom each year, while many spend even more than that!

So, if you’ve decided to renovate your bathroom but are reluctant to spend too much time and money on it, you’re in the right place.

Read on for 10-bathroom renovation hacks that upgrade your bathroom while saving time and money with home DIY and hardware online.

1. Paint your bathroom

If you are looking to completely transform your bathroom with little effort, paint might do the trick. From warm, comforting colors such as beige and earth tones to energetic colors such as blue, you can give your bathroom a whole new vibe with a new color.

You don’t have to paint your walls a single shade. Instead, you can explore your creativity by using different kinds of paints and textures, and maybe adding patterns using stencils.

2. Use similar but less expensive alternative materials

If you’re looking to swap out the materials used in your bathroom, choose alternatives that cost less but still look similar to what you want. For instance, if you want to change your floors and you like wood plank flooring, try the less expensive luxury vinyl flooring.

Luxury vinyl flooring and plank vinyl don’t look very different from a distance and may give you the look you want without breaking the bank.

You can check out Archipro for more bathroom supplies and products.

3. Touch-up or refinish your tub and shower area

Over time, your tub and shower area might get yellow and somewhat grimy. If your tub does not have any major breakages, you can fix minor cracks, peeling, and nicks with materials such as touch-up glue.

If your tub has started looking old and yellow and cleaning it thoroughly has not helped, you can opt for relining or refinishing it.

Relining is the process of placing a non-slipcover on top of your bathtub or shower area to make it look as good as new. Refinishing is a similar process that removes the existing surface of your bathtub and gives it a new one.

Touching up, refinishing, and relining your bathtub all cost less than replacing it.

4. Replace your sink faucet

If your sink has started looking dull, replacing the faucet might help. A new faucet is clean and shiny, making the whole area look new.

Faucets are also much cheaper than replacing the entire sink. Installing a faucet is a simple task, so you may even save the time you need to call and wait for a plumber by doing it yourself.

5. Install a new toilet by yourself

Calling a plumber to install a toilet may cost you hundreds of dollars and a long wait for the plumber’s availability. Instead, if you don’t mind getting a little handy, you can try to install it yourself.

There are countless videos and tutorials available online to help you through the process.

However, if you have little or no experience with performing repairs and handiwork, it might be better in the long run to have the toilet installed by a professional.

6. Clean up the clutter

Our bathrooms are often cluttered with shampoos, soaps, body washes, toothbrushes, and appliances such as hair dryers. The clutter makes the bathroom look untidy and less than luxurious.

To declutter your sink top, you can add storage bins and spaces that match the theme of your bathroom and remove the various bottles and knickknacks from the counter. For your shower, you can add a wall niche or shower caddy to keep it neat.

7. Use tricks to make your bathroom seem larger

You can open up your space to make your bathroom seem more open and airier than it really is. Compartmentalizing a small room, for instance, makes it look even smaller.

To fix this, you can remove your shower curtain and add a sliding glass door in its place. The glass door will open up the room and make it look larger without having to break down the bathroom walls to extend it.

8. Give your bathroom a good scrub

No matter how many tips and tricks you use to renovate your bathroom, it will make little difference if the bathroom looks dirty at the end.

After all your renovation work, it is crucial to clean your bathroom thoroughly to make it look bright and spotless. Make sure to clean the tile grout and shower spaces especially well.

9. Add new accessories

Once you have finished your painting and remodeling work, adding new accessories to go with the new elements can really take your bathroom interior up a notch.

You can add rugs, matching towels, and other knickknacks such as hooks, toilet paper rod, and soap holder. Check online marketplaces to find these accessories for cheap.

10. Add decorative pieces

Everything you add to your bathroom does not necessarily have to be functional. Decorative pieces can instantly add a lot of style to your bathroom and don’t have to burn a hole in your pocket either.

For example, you can add a decorative vase, some flowerpots, or some art frames to ramp up your bathroom. Check out a flea market or garage sale for some cheap decorative items for your bathroom.
