Conventional wisdom had it that Wal-Mart had ceded Minnesota to homegrown rival Target, but the Arkansas-based retailer is making moves in the state. Wal-Mart has 82 stores in Minnesota, the Twin Cities were chosen as one of two test markets for an online price-comparison feature, and Wal-Mart is building a new 420,000-square-foot distribution center to service the region.
