The first restaurants have opened in a new mall in the Bixby Knolls neighborhood of Long Beach, Calif., in storefronts created from used shipping containers. Steelhead Coffee and Smog City Brewery have opened ahead of the center’s official February debut, and several others including a pizza eatery, a Belgian waffle restaurant and a gourmet burger joint are on track to open this month.
